The Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Ausaf Sayeed appreciated the noble efforts of the Riyadh Initiative against Substance Abuse-RISA campaign under the patronage of Subair Kunju foundation while inaugurating its first online trainer training program in a Webinar platform. Reassured the Indian missions full support and cooperation to facilitate the campaign in all the international Indian Schools in the Kingdom. “RISA is doing a great job and it is the continuous and dedicated efforts that enabled the Subair Kunju foundation to get enrolled in the UNODC NGO platforms as well as to gain permission to conduct their activities in KSA by the National Committee for Narcotics Control as early as in 2013” he added. He also highlighted the efforts by the Ministry of Social Justice, Govt. of India on tackling the problem of drug abuse and addiction. The Chairman of Subair Kunju Foundation and the RISA convener,Dr. Abdul Azeez Subair Kunju, currently working with the King Abdulaziz Medical City under Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs said that this is their 92nd RISA program and he explained about the new RISA venture, The RISA-TAG to be initiated shortly in the state of Kerala, India. The webinar was attended by 772 out of 865 registered candidates. Teachers and students from schools in India and various International Indian schools from the Middle-east and other volunteers were the target audience.There were 5 presentations in the webinar such as hazards of Alcoholism and its prevention by Dr. Bharathan A V, hazards of Smoking and its prevention by Dr.Thampi Velappan, Psychological aspects of Substance Abuse by Dr. Naseem Aktar Qureshi And Substance Abuse- A social hazard by Mrs. Padmini U Nair and How to detect drug addiction in children by Dr. Abdul Azeez Subair Kunju. Mrs. Meera Rahman,Nisar Kallara, Shameer Yusaf, Abdul Salam P K, Adv. Aseef Mohammed and various zonal/regional representatives of RISA coordinated the event. Jaheer Basheerand master Zain and Sanoob Ahmed gave technical assistance. Shihab Kottukad, Ashraf Vadakkevila, IISR chairman Tajammul Were among the notable community leaders apart from the principals of various international schools, media people, and other prominent personalities from various fields who attended the webinar. The RISA Kerala coordinator, Karunakaran Pilla welcomed the guests and the program consultant Dr. A V Bharathan delivered the vote of thanks.An online awareness evaluation test was conducted on 26th December.  All those scores more than 60%in the awareness test are eligible for RISA certificate that can be downloaded from the RISA -TOT webinar site: http://www.risatot.online  on a later date to be announced soon.  The RISE has the plan to continue the online TOT more extensively in the coming year.
